How to dry Petri dishes in a drying oven?

Drying ovens are often used in schools or some hospital laboratories to dry Petri dishes. Petri dishes consist of a flat disc-like base and a lid, usually made of glass or plastic. Petri dishes are basically made of two types of materials, mainly plastic and glass. In the case of plastic Petri dishes, attention should be paid to the maximum acceptable temperature, depending on the quality of the Petri dish, heat-resistant temperature control of the temperature set by the drying oven.

In the dry heat state, due to poor heat penetration, the microorganisms are more heat resistant and must be subjected to high temperatures for a long time to achieve the purpose of sterilization. Therefore, dry heat air sterilization generally uses a higher temperature than moist heat sterilization. In order to ensure the sterilization effect, it is generally stipulated that: 135-140 degree Celsius for 3-5h; 160-170 degree Celsius for 2-4h; 180-200 degree Celsius for 0.5-1h.

The temperature setting of the drying oven should be carried out according to the regulations. Do not open the door directly after the machine has finished working. The temperature must be lowered to a certain level before opening the door and taking it out.
